Hidden Art helps designer-makers and designers transform their passion into products.
We do this through promoting and supporting members to place their products both nationally and internationally through international trade fairs, the Hidden Art E-Shop, global press coverage, Hidden Art Awards and our annual pre-Christmas Open Studios event. We also run a support programme.
Our core activity is an award winning not-for-profit membership organization. Most income comes from funding agencies, such as the European Regional Development Fund. In addition income is generated through the E-Shop, membership and events. As a not-for-profit organisation, any revenue generated by Hidden Art’s services is reinvested to support designer-makers.
Hidden Art also runs Hidden Art Select, an initiative which aims to successfully market a range of products on the Hidden Art E-Shop. Started in 2007 Hidden Art Select has launched 23 products, which includes 4 products with designs from pupils through Hidden Art Select kids.
Hidden Art is inclusive. We offer opportunities and equal access for all designer-makers and aim to reach the local and wider communities in which designer-makers work. There is no selection procedure for membership – we aim to provide a range of initiatives to suit every members needs and selection procedures are only required for certain projects.
We also aim to provide the highest standards of customer care whether the customer is a designer-maker, manufacturer, other service provider or a member of the public. To help us achieve this, we have attained ‘Customer First’ accreditation.
Hidden Art began in 1994 as a small open studios event to promote quality work by 43 Hackney-based designer-makers. Over a decade on, it has developed into a unique network, which has promoted and supported over 1,800 designer-makers and built links between the creative and manufacturing industries and their clients.
